Run, Leytonstone, Sometime in the early noughties

4 years ago this evening, Florence, Joe and I said good night to Run at the hospice;  he was working on a piece for the Stones, he was mellow and positive and enjoying drawing. We fully expected to see each other for breakfast the next morning, but that never happened. It was a huge shock for us all, which might sound stupid, but when it’s someone you love, you assume a last minute reprieve.

Now I appreciate the words of a wise man who wrote to me soon after ‘what starts as an unbearable pain becomes a dull ache that you wouldn’t be without.’

And with that darling Run we miss you, we love you, we salute you and send god’s blessings and strength to every friend who is going through similar struggles with this emperor of all maladies.
