PopMart 1997

For U2’s PopMart tour in 1997, Run created animated visuals that lit up stadiums worldwide, and began a long standing collaboration with the band. As well as his own work that opened the show, Run was honoured to meet then animate the iconic work of Roy Lichtenstein and the Keith Haring estate.

His visuals didn’t just support the spectacle—they sharpened it, pushing PopMart’s ironic, hyper-commercial aesthetic into full-blown sensory overload. It was a rare moment when underground animation crashed the mainstream, and Wrake’s voice rang out loud and clear.
